Florence, 10th January 2002 Giorgio Armani is pleased to announce the opening tomorrow January 11th of his new flagship boutique in Via Tornabuoni 48 Florence, Italy.
Giorgio Armani collaborated on the design of the new boutique with Architect Claudio Silvestrin to provide a modern, timeless, and accessible environment for Armani's collections in keeping with the beauty and simplicity of the recently re-designed flagship boutiques in Milan (Via Sant'Andrea) and Paris (Place Vendome), while at the same time preserving the original structure of the palazzo which stands next to Palazzo Strozzi in one of Florence's most historical streets.
Giorgio Armani said I'm always looking to create an environment where the store architecture supports the presentation of the collections in a way that is modern and accessible for our customers. The new Florence boutique is an example of this philosophy.
St Maximin stone, a soft compact cream coloured stone, is used throughout the boutique, and for the extended entrance and facade of the building. There is a rich contrast between the essential lines of the cream stone floors and walls and the deep Macassar ebony and oxidised brass selected for the furniture and the fixtures. There are as always, special lighting effects that are hidden in the ceiling and embedded in the walls, often covered by a satin-polished glass plate to diffuse the light even more. The overall effect is modern, pure, sleek and uncluttered while at the same time creating a unique sense of luxury and refinement.
Spread over 450 square metres and two floors, the boutique will carry the Giorgio Armani collections for men and women, the Giorgio Armani Classico Collection, and a full range of accessories for men and women.
