Nike, Inc. today announced the appointment of Michelle Moorehead as vice president of global strategic planning, effective immediately. Moorehead succeeds Curt Roberts, who became the vice president and general manager of Nike Vision, Timing and Tech Ventures in May 2004. She will report to Mark Parker and Charlie Denson, Nike co-presidents.
Moorehead most recently served as vice president of transition operations at the Target Corporation. She joined Target in 2001 as the vice president of strategy and performance management. During her three-year tenure at the Minneapolis-based Target, Moorehead led the process to identify business priorities for the $48-billion, 1,500-store retailer and was an integral part of a variety of quantifiable business improvement and strategic positioning initiatives.
“Michelle's broad corporate strategic planning and deep retail experience will be a valuable asset to our senior management team,” said Charlie Denson, co-president of the Nike brand. “We are looking forward to having Michelle join our senior management team.”
Prior to joining Target, Moorehead was an associate principal with McKinsey & Company in Dallas for seven years, where she co-led the North American e-tail practice. She also served as a capital finance analyst at Equifax in Atlanta and began her career in auditing at PPG Industries in Pittsburgh.
Moorehead earned her undergraduate degree in economics and public policy studies at Duke University and her MBA from Duke's Fuqua School of Business. She is a native of Beaverton, Oregon and graduated from Aloha High School in Hillsboro, Oregon.
