WestPoint Stevens Inc. (NYSE: WXS) (www.westpointstevens.com ) today announced that Michael J. Velsmid has resigned effective Jan. 15 from his post as a Senior Vice President of the Company and President of WestPoint Stevens Stores Inc. to pursue other interests. Director – Stores Al Markham has been designated to head Stores operations on an interim basis until a successor is named.
Mr. Velsmid has been President of WestPoint Stevens Stores since 1992, when he joined the Company, and was elected by the WestPoint Stevens Board of Directors as Senior Vice President of the Company in June 2000
