The Armani Group is pleased to announce the opening today of a stand-alone Emporio Armani store within Zurich airport. Located on Level 2 of the Airside Center, it covers over 120 square metres of selling space. This follows soon after its first airport opening in October 2003 at Rome's Fiumicino airport and marks the Group's commitment to the creation of a substantial retail presence for its main brands within a network of freestanding stores, shop-in-shops and multi-brand stores in the Travel Retail sector world-wide.
As in Fiumicino, the new store will carry elements from the clothing collections for men and women although the focus will be on the Group's growing accessories business. These include the Emporio Armani complete range of shoes, bags and belts for men and women, and Orologi (watch), Occhiali (eyewear) and Gioielli (jewellery) collections, as well as gift items.
Giorgio Armani, President and Chairman of the Armani Group said “this opening demonstrates our long term commitment to this growing market, in which we plan to develop comprehensive distribution and retail channels for the Group's main brands and product lines.”
Giorgio Armani designed the new store in collaboration with Architect Ivana Invernizzi and the company in-house team of architects following the image of the recently opened Emporio stores in Stockholm, Munich and Florence. Slightly illuminated opaline plexiglass panels contrast with walls of chocolate brown wengè and specialist warm grey marmorino plaster. The flooring is made of “pietra serena” stone with a matt finish. A large image of the Emporio Armani %u2018Dreamers' campaign for Autumn/Winter 2004 dominates the entrance to the store, and a beige tatami carpet outlines the area that has been specially created to showcase the shoes and bags. The overall effect blends craftsmanship with modernity in an unexpected way and presents a perfect backdrop for Armani's fashion.
