Liz Claiborne Inc. today announced the appointment of Frank S. Sowinski as executive vice president, effective January 29, 2004. In this newly created position, Mr. Sowinski will report to Paul R. Charron, chairman and chief executive officer, and will oversee several operational areas of the company including finance and administration, information technology and customer service, and manufacturing, sourcing, distribution and logistics.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Charron said: ''Frank is a results- oriented executive with strong experience in leading high-performance global organizations, delivering shareholder value and leveraging technology in business. I look forward to partnering with him as our management team charts the course which will carry the company successfully through the next five to ten years.''
Most recently, Mr. Sowinski served as executive vice president-chief financial officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting where he helped create the strategy for the company's IPO and was instrumental in the sale of the consulting business to IBM. Prior to that Mr. Sowinski held several high-level operating positions at The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, a global provider of business information and services. During his tenure at Dun & Bradstreet, Mr. Sowinski held the positions of president, chief financial officer and executive vice president of global marketing. Mr. Sowinski began his career at Amerada Hess Corporation after receiving his MBA from the University of Virginia and his undergraduate degree from Princeton University.
