Surfing Legends Kelly Slater, Lisa Andersen and More to Appear at Grand Opening of Quiksilver Boardriders Club in Anglet, France
Quiksilver, Inc. the boardriding industry leader, recently announced its new Quiksilver Boardriders Club in Anglet, France, which represents an innovative, all-inclusive retail experience; the flagship location will showcase Quiksilver's authenticity, interactivity and originality. The grand opening celebration on June 15th will feature live music, indoor skateboarding and appearances by top athletes and world champion surfers, Kelly Slater and Lisa Andersen, both Quiksilver team riders. At over 7,500 square feet, the Anglet store will instantly become the largest surf shop in Europe.
Designed by architect Philippe Avenzi from Grenoble, the Quiksilver Boardriders Club in Anglet incorporates surf-inspired materials such as pebbles, drift wood, bamboo, aged metal, oak blocks, and polished stones to create a natural and welcoming boardriding atmosphere. In addition to carrying a variety of Quiksilver products and apparel, the location also includes an indoor skate park, DJ booth, 12-foot wave housing a cult collection of surf boards, DVD wall, a board shaper's workshop, the Cafe Ono restaurant and more. Ono's menu was created by noted restaurateur Luc Reversade, and is based on ultra-fresh and energizing ingredients, offering both eat-in and take-out service.
“In 1998, Quiksilver added an extra string to its bow by opening the Boardriders Club on the Champs-Elysees in Paris,” said Bernard Mariette, President, Quiksilver Inc. “This represented a fundamental step in our specialized distribution and placed both our brands and values in an authentic sales environment. By opening this new store in Anglet, Quiksilver renews its ambition and successfully fulfills its mission as a leading lifestyle brand.”
“The launch of the new retail concept in Anglet symbolizes another turning point in Quiksilver's worldwide development,” said Pierre Agnes, President, Quiksilver Europe. “This experience allows us to express the fullness of our brands by offering new services in an exciting and unique setting.”
The first Quiksilver Boardriders Club in France opened in Capbreton in 1992, immediately becoming one of the company's most dynamic stores, and still remains a destination for surfing fans across the globe.
